Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly can my loved one move in?
The timeline varies depending on availability at the home you are interested in and the complexity of your loved one’s care needs. In many cases, we can complete assessments and begin the admission process within a few days of initial contact. Call us to discuss your specific situation and urgency.
Is there a waitlist?
Availability varies by location. We encourage families to reach out as early in the planning process as possible, even if placement is not immediately needed. This allows us to learn about your loved one and identify the right home before a spot becomes urgent.
What documentation do I need to begin the admissions process?
We will walk you through everything we need. Generally, helpful documents include current physician orders and medication lists, recent medical history or hospital discharge paperwork, health insurance information, and any existing advance directives or care preferences. We will guide you through the process step by step.
Do you accept Medicare or Medicaid?
Please contact us directly at (913) 341-2724 for the most current information on payment options and what forms of coverage we accept. We are happy to discuss the financial aspects of care in detail during your consultation.
Can I visit my loved one after they move in?
Absolutely. We welcome family visits every day. Our homes are real homes — family is always welcome to stop in, share a meal, or spend time with their loved one. We believe that strong family involvement is one of the keys to a resident’s happiness and wellbeing.
What if my loved one needs more care than a residential home can provide?
We are always honest with families about what we can and cannot safely provide. If a resident’s needs ever exceed what our homes can accommodate, we will communicate that clearly and work with the family to identify appropriate next steps and coordinate any necessary transition with care and compassion.
Are your homes licensed and inspected?
Yes. All five Goshen Home Care locations are licensed and regulated by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) as Home Plus residential care facilities. We comply with all state inspection and care standards and maintain our licensing in good standing.
